The Background
I grew up inside the diamond trade — as a buyer, a supplier, and through jewelry. My focus on fancy colors brought me into the private, relationship-driven parts of the market.
Being on both sides taught me one thing: it's always about who you know. I kept looking for ways to expand that circle. That's what led me to build PreMarket.
My Point of View
After enough time, I started noticing patterns
As a supplier
I sold, and watched the same stone sell again for more
I took the deal. A week later, the same stone sold for more. The offer was real. The exposure wasn't complete.
I held, and the moment passed
I waited for a better buyer. The market moved before I did.
The right buyer never found me
Some stones have a very short list of people who'd truly pay for them. I didn't know those buyers.
As a buyer
I found the stone, the margin was already gone
By the time it reached me, two dealers had added their cut. The price reflected their profit, not the stone.
I made an offer, they declined, then called back
My offer wasn't accepted. Weeks later, the same supplier called back. I already understood what that meant.
These experiences made me realize it's a bigger problem — and I'm not alone in that feeling. That's what made me develop PreMarket.
